Stent lawsuit filed against Union Memorial and chief of cardiac catheterization lab. - baltimoresun.com: "Union Memorial Hospital and the chief of its cardiac catheterization lab have been sued by a woman who claims that she unnecessarily had stents placed in her arteries, and that her recurring chest pains were later diagnosed as stemming from a stomach ailment.

The lawsuit was filed last week in Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Physician's lawyers lose patient records - baltimoresun.com: "A Baltimore law firm lost a portable hard drive containing information about its cases, including medical records for 161 stent patients suing cardiologist Dr. Mark G. Midei, a firm client, for alleged malpractice at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson.

The drive was lost Aug. 4 by an employee of Baxter, Baker, Sidle, Conn & Jones who was traveling on the Baltimore light rail, according to a letter obtained by The Baltimore Sun that was sent to one of the stent patients last week — two months after the drive went missing."

McLean, 59, who surrendered his medical privileges at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in 2007 after a hospital investigation, faces a maximum of 35 years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for Nov. 10, according to the Maryland U.S. attorney's office."
